Road Trip - which boxes to hit?

From: "Tig" (mainetig@yahoo.com) | Date: 2002-04-26 09:46:10 UTC-07:00
Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a little help/guidance. I am getting
ready for a brief vacation before the chaos of Summer
Camps, and am headed down to VA Beach to do some
boxing with AD. I have decided drive and would like
to pick up some boxes along the way.

For all of you that know your areas best, I am looking
for suggestions on which ones to add to the list.
Short hikes with easy access to and from the highway
are what I am looking for. My route is 95 from RI,
cross the GW bridge, to the NJ Pike, and then down
across Rt 1 & 13 to the Bay Bridge/Tunnel. The Garden
State Pkwy to the Cape May Ferry or up and across the
Tapenzee Bridge are possibilities as well.

TIA for any direction you can send me ;o)

Tig

Well, as for NJ, the Rutgers Gardens boxes are maybe a mile off of
exit 9 off the Turnpike. And if you take the Parkway, Cheesequake
State Park is probably only a little further. It's around exit 120 I
think, but they have the brown state park signs so it's simple to
find.

As you go through the DC area, the Mount Vernon Trail Letterboxes
(MVT series-3 boxes) are very easy drive-by boxes. Also, Cherry
Blossoms in the DC area is a quick and easy box.

It may be a bit out of your way unless you plan on heading north
(leaving Va.) on I-95...but Fredericksburg Va. is not too far off of
the interstae and has a mess of boxes in the area....most with easy
hikes....some no more than several yards from where you park.

Thank you to everyone for your hints and suggestions.
I have a ton of them printed out and we will just see
how weather and traffic work out.

Thanks again!!
